Um, I'm going to lead you a little bit, as I do most witnesses, on their, um, the background. But I did want to point out, you're going to talk about being injured, but you didn't have COVID till years later. So this is, this is something that happened after. You are currently 64. You are a former director of communications with the World Health Organization. You were working for their, what was then their HIV department. You have worked in communications for the US Agency for International Development. You were an advisor for the United Nations Population Fund in New York. You were, curiously, um, you wrote the first draft, so you were the writer for infectious disease and the vaccine department at the World Health Organization. When they put together a, a World Health Organization book called The State of the World's Vaccines. You wrote the first draft of that.

And, um, what your health before you were vaccinated. So prior to your second shot, um, you had just done an extreme 26K hike and you, you live on Vancouver Island. Like, there's like, it's not flat.

It's not very rooty. It was, it was a pretty extreme hike, hike, I should say.

And you, you hiked, you cycled. You were just an extremely fit and active person. And why did you take the vaccine? You've got a lot of background in vaccines.

Yeah, I, at the time, I was kind of suspicious about the narrative around COVID because I was listening, as everyone else was, to the death toll being announced by CBC every day. And I knew that the death rate needed to be contextualized in terms of percentage per 100,000. So if you actually do the math, the death rate was very, in fact, similar to seasonal flu. However, I was at that time unemployed. I was between contracts and I was up for a job in Europe and I needed to get vaccinated in order to travel. And I was offered the position. I won't name the employer because it's not appropriate. So I went ahead for the first shot and it was completely uneventful. And I thought, okay, well, you know, I would go in for the second shot. I was also on a list because I had a preexisting condition of high blood pressure, which is familial.

I received the second shot 5 weeks later and I went ahead and did it even though I had some doubts. I thought maybe I'll get a sore arm, maybe I'll break out in hives. You know, that's a possibility. I did not expect what happened next.
