Yeah, he was a larger than life, big friendly giant. He would wrap you in stories for hours, and he just loved life. He loved being a father. It was his pride and joy. He loved being a son to my parents. He loved his family. He loved his friends. He was loyal.

He was amazing.

He was very active.

Um, he volunteered.

Um, just an incredible human, and we miss him very much.

And he had two children when he passed: Caleb, who was age 10, and Olivia, whose age date?

And you were very close to Scott yourself?

Very close.

We were inseparable.

Unconditional love, no questions, always had each other's backs, there for everything.

What's one of your fondest memories about Scott?

Carole Avoine · 1:53:28

Um, probably at my wedding. Um, we had a golf tournament during the day and he went out golfing with all of the groomsmen, and we were in each other's weddings, and he had a couple of drinks and had a blast. And then during the ceremony, as I was walking down the aisle, he was a bumbling mess, and it was very cute to see a big burly man as I'm walking down the aisle crying like a baby. It was— he would be embarrassed if I told that story, but, um, he would also love it too. And when my daughter was born, my It was the first grandchild in our family and first niece or any babies in our family. And again, Scott was 6'4", 6'5". Like, he was really big, and this little tiny baby in his arms, it was just beautiful.

So can you share with us what's happening in this video?

Yeah, so we are out west, um, in Alberta for my uncle's wedding, and that's my brother Scott, my mom in the middle, and that's me. We had a blast at that during that trip.

And that's the picture I was kind of just describing. That was, uh, the day or the next day after my daughter Berkeley was born. And you can see, right, the human connection. And I think that's what's really missing in all of these policies and all of this stuff we're going to talk about. But that right there is the human condition. It's what life is about. And who gets to determine, and who gets to intervene, and who gets to change the lives of these people?

It's interesting that when I first saw this photograph, I had assumed that this was one of Scott's own children, just the way he's so affectionately.

He loved so big, he loved so hard, with all of his heart, with everything about him. And there was no question, you can tell he's embracing my daughter as if it was his own too. And we were a very close family.

So this is Scott with, um, Caleb and Olivia, and that was, um, a little bit after his injury. Um, and they're quite young, you can see, 5 and 3. And, um, he had the best hugs and the best snuggles, and those kids absolutely love him.

He was, again, a really larger-than-life human being, and those hugs just dropped you right in.

And his daughter was wrapped— he— she had him wrapped around her little finger and still does. And Caleb was just the light of his life, and he loved being a father to them, and he loved being a husband to his wife. They were building a beautiful life together.
