• 🏥 ER doctor refused tests, blamed flu and sent the non-standing 16-year-old home with Tylenol.
• 👩‍⚕️ Nurse mother invoked Guillain-Barré; only then were tests ordered and she was admitted that night.

Teen unable to stand was dismissed until her nurse mother forced proper work-up.

I took a Tylenol, I went to sleep. And the next day I woke up, um, weakness in my legs. And within 5 days I couldn't feel my legs. I couldn't feel my legs. My head, sharp pain going up and down my spine. Um, so my mom, uh, took me to the emergency, uh, hospital. Um, and the hospital, I was surprised it wasn't busy. I was seen immediately. And the doctor asked what, like, what brought me here today?

And I explained my symptoms. And I said it was soon after the COVID-19 vaccine. And he immediately said, no, it's, it's probably just a flu. Go home and just take more Tylenol and You'll be fine.

So I just want to make sure we have this, this clear. So you at that time can't feel your legs. Are you able to stand? So you— so you're a 16-year-old high school student who can't stand. You've also got this headache, pins and needles. I guess you don't have those anymore. You can't feel anything. Is this from the waist down, or— and the doctor suggests to you that it's a flu?

No, no, I don't think my mom spoke up, and I'm so grateful she was there. She spoke up and said no to go do something. She mentioned about Guillain-Barré syndrome, which it can happen from any vaccine. And the doctor looked at her and said, how do you know about this? How do you know those medical terms? And my mom said, because I'm a nurse. And as soon as she said that, it's like I was talking to a different doctor. He changes his mind. He's like, okay, I'm gonna go do this, this test. He started, uh, he admitted me to the hospital that night. Um, he started treating me differently because my mom said she's a nurse.

It's been, it's been 5 years now, and, um, I'm still having a hard— my left foot drags when I, I tried to walk.
