Needle Phobia and League Vaccine Mandate¶
Day 4 · 0:22:42 · Glen Motz · Dan Hartman · Dean Allison
- 💉 Sean’s greatest fear was needles; he once passed out receiving a non-COVID shot and would never have chosen vaccination.
- 🚫 The league required two shots for players and even parents who wanted to watch, forcing his hand to keep playing.
- 💪 At 17 he was in perfect health—no pop, salt, alcohol, or cigarettes—and had no pre-existing conditions.
Context for why a terrified teen took the only Pfizer dose he ever received.

So, okay. And, um, you shared with us that he was terrified of needles, and he actually, um, had to get a non-COVID needle, uh, not long before COVID Yeah. What was that? What your understanding of that experience?
Dan Hartman · 0:22:59
He passed out. That's how much he feared needles. And I would try to tell him, it's no big deal, it's just a little prick and you're good.
Dean Allison · 0:23:06
But he was terrified of them.
Dan Hartman · 0:23:08
So that plays a lot into this story that there's no way on earth he would have taken that unless he was forced.
Glen Motz · 0:23:16
So, and, and forced, meaning you can't play hockey.
Dan Hartman · 0:23:21
That's right.
Glen Motz · 0:23:21
Unless you get vaccinated. So what happened there with, with the league? What was going on?
Dan Hartman · 0:23:27
Oh, they forced you to have the shot, even for the parents. If you want to go in and watch your children, you had to have the shots. So he had to have 2 shots by a certain date to, to play, but he only took one. He didn't get to his second one.
Dan Hartman · 0:23:42
Yeah.
Glen Motz · 0:23:43
Now, and I'm asking an obvious question because he's a hockey player and a serious hockey player. Like, he's— they play a lot of games and they practice. What kind of shape was Sean in, the 17-year-old?
Dan Hartman · 0:23:54
Perfect. Very healthy. He never drank pop in his life. I tried to get him to take it one time and he wouldn't drink it. He wouldn't put salt on food. That's how healthy he was. He He never had a drop of alcohol in his life. He never had a cigarette.
Glen Motz · 0:24:10
It was just sports, right? So, so he was an elite athlete.
Dan Hartman · 0:24:15
Yeah.
Glen Motz · 0:24:16
With no preexisting health conditions of any kind.
Dan Hartman · 0:24:19
No.
Glen Motz · 0:24:21
So, okay. And you told us the only reason he's taking this is because it's necessary. It's required for him to continue to do what he loves.
Dan Hartman · 0:24:32
Yeah.
Glen Motz · 0:24:34
And, and hockey was his life.
Dan Hartman · 0:24:35
Oh yeah.
Glen Motz · 0:24:37
So, um, August 25th, 2021, he has his one and only shot, which was a Pfizer.
