Okay.
Dean Allison · 8:09:35
So, but first, before we do, I guess tell us why you wrote the letter.
Charles Hoffe · 8:09:39
Okay.
Dean Allison · 8:09:40
And then, you know, we'll pull the letter up just so people can see it. And then you can tell us what happened.
Charles Hoffe · 8:09:45
Sure.
Charles Hoffe · 8:09:46
So, so what happened was first, when I became aware of safety signals, I tried to alert my colleagues in the area to these safety signals and was immediately reprimanded by the regional health authorities. And they told me that I was putting people at risk by creating vaccine hesitancy. And they said, we're sending this email that you sent out as a complaint to the College of Physicians and Surgeons. You are not allowed to say anything negative about this vaccine in the course of your work. And, um, if you've got any questions about it, you need to send it to the, the regional health officer who was—.
Dean Allison · 8:10:27
So I just want to slow you down. So you're seeing really what you're seeing is a cluster of vaccine injuries?
Charles Hoffe · 8:10:33
Well, initially with that, no, because I've been away on holiday. And I hadn't seen my patients for 5 weeks and I didn't know what was happening. And I got back and AstraZeneca was— had been shut down in Europe in 12 countries and Trudeau had ordered 60 million doses and said, no, it's fine for Canadians. And I sent a letter to my colleagues saying, this is— there is a serious safety signal. 12 Countries in Europe have shut this down. Trudeau says it's fine. I think we need to pause and take stock. And I was reprimanded for that. And so when I came back from holiday—.
Dean Allison · 8:11:14
When you say you were reprimanded, so you mean public health? Is that the reprimand?
Charles Hoffe · 8:11:19
Well, no, it was my superiors at Royal Enfield Hospital phoned me. I had a teleconference with two of them and one of me, and they told me that I was putting people at risk by creating vaccine. In other words, for pointing out safety signals you're pushing people at risk. So, so they gave me effectively a gag order. They said, you're not allowed to say anything negative about it. If you've got any questions, they gave me the name of the person that I needed to send the questions to. So when I then was back at work and started seeing my vaccine-injured patients coming in, and I'd been their family doctor for 28 years at that point. And I was horrified. I was absolutely horrified. And, and so I then sent a letter to this person that they had told me to direct my questions to. But, and so she was the one that ultimately I sent all the vaccine injury reports to.
Charles Hoffe · 8:12:23
But I sent her this letter saying, this is what I'm seeing. What do I do? What What's the diagnosis? I've never seen this before. How do I treat it? I'm their family doctor. I don't even know what the diagnosis is. I've never seen this kind of thing before. And so she sent that to the college as a complaint that I was obviously saying something negative about the vaccine now.
Dean Allison · 8:12:46
So, so I just want to be clear because you're a doctor and you're actually going up the to your, you know, superiors. There's a hierarchy here, and you're saying, this is what I'm seeing, what do I do?
Charles Hoffe · 8:13:00
Yes.
Charles Hoffe · 8:13:01
So she never responded to that. She sent it to the college as a complaint. So I then sent that letter—.
Dean Allison · 8:13:11
So let me pull this letter up.
Charles Hoffe · 8:13:13
So that letter was to Dr. Bonnie Henry, who's the provincial health officer in in BC to tell her that 900— was it 900? Yeah, the first 900 of my patients had received the first dose of Moderna. And I told her about what— one patient had died suddenly, two had anaphylactic shock immediately afterwards, three looked like they were going to be permanently disabled. And you can't necessarily say that disabilities permanent after only 3 months, but they sure looked like they were going to be permanently disabled because they'd had their shots in January and this was now April. So I sent her this letter, but because I was— I had a sort of a sense of, of real urgency that, that I knew these people had been— so people were terrified of COVID so they were lining up for these shots to keep them safe. And I realized that there'd been— we knew at that point that the recovery rate was the same as the flu.
Charles Hoffe · 8:14:20
We knew that, yet people didn't believe that because all these people are supposed to be dying. And so I sent that letter to her, but I sent it as an open letter because I'm not a social media person. I've never ever put anything on social media. I didn't know how else to try and warn the world. And fortunately, that did it. A lot of people saw that, and a lot of people who were suspicious about this thought, ha, finally, here is a doctor saying what he's just talking about, what's happening to his patients.
Dean Allison · 8:14:59
And what came of that letter?
Charles Hoffe · 8:15:02
Well, so The response of the college was to then send a warning letter to every single registered doctor saying that if they spread misinformation about COVID or the COVID vaccines, that they would be put under investigation and if necessary disciplined.
Dean Allison · 8:15:21
And I'm just going to stop you. I bet you, Dr. Hoff, that every doctor in British Columbia knew what was meant by the term misinformation.
Charles Hoffe · 8:15:29
Correct.
Dean Allison · 8:15:30
And what, what was meant by the term misinformation?
Charles Hoffe · 8:15:34
Well, in medical school, you are taught that vaccines save millions and millions of lives and that the vaccines are the greatest triumph of science and medicine in human history. And that's what you're taught. And therefore, Vaccines are sort of like holy ground. You don't say anything negative about a vaccine because this is the greatest triumph of science and medicine in human history. That's where the term anti-vaxxer, you know, to be an anti-vaxxer is a bit like being a Holocaust denier. You don't go there. So, I mean, and that's why doctors are so hesitant to report vaccine injuries. I mean, we had mentioned about that the, the study done by Harvard in 2010 that showed that 0.8% of vaccine injuries are ever reported. And that's not COVID, that's all vaccines.
Charles Hoffe · 8:16:36
0.8%. Doctors are very hesitant to blame vaccines for anything.
