So there's a lot of really critical things to understand about Abigail and her health journey. The first thing is, is in June of 2021, The vaccines weren't mandated at that, at that time, but there was the restrictions of not being able to go in restaurants or travel, these sorts of things. And her and I talked extensively about that process, and she said, Mom, it's okay, you know, I don't need to go out with my friends and go to concerts. And she said, I feel in my heart that if I was to get these shots, something really bad would happen to me. She had that intuition, and she also has drug hypersensitivity, which is a big part, and I share that experience with her as well. Um, and so I said to her at that time, Abigail, you can never get these shots. And she said, well, I'm not going to.

She was hired with AHS Officially in June of 2021, which is Alberta Health Services, Alberta Health Services, in June of 2021. And she worked on the cardiology unit in the hospital, and shortly after that she started working, and they had a policy in place that if an employee woke up and they had flu or cold-like symptoms, that they had to go get a PCR test. So August 23rd, she woke up, she felt flu-like symptoms. She went, got a PCR test, and on August 26th, um, that came back that she tested positive for COVID. And when I talked to her, I said, well, how are you feeling? She said, well, I'm fine, like, I'm, you know, I'm, I'm sick. But she said, I'm fine and I'm getting through it. And I wasn't concerned about her at all, in fact. And I kind of said to her in a light way, I said, well, at least you have natural immunity.

And I said, that's really good for you and for your patients. It'll protect you and them. And she said, yeah. And so she was resting. And then September 1st, she got the letter from her employer, AHS, and they enforced the mandates. And that's when everything changed. And it happened so quickly. So in order for her to keep her job, she had to have what they would call fully vaccinated, which is 2 shots by October 15th. So there was really no time to think. And so I suggested that she asked her employer for a medical exemption. She had some genuine concerns about getting the shots. She went to the HR department and she asked for a medical exemption and they denied her that. And they said, we're not giving out medical exemptions.

So yeah, it's such a big story, so I'll move fast. She then went to her medical doctor, asked for a medical exemption, and she was denied as well. Then, so at that time, Abigail's doctor told her that it was in her best interest to get the shots, that they were safe and effective and to go ahead. And she trusted her doctor. That was her lifelong doctor. And that ultimately sealed Abigail's fate and her decision. So on September 15th, she got her first Pfizer shot in 2021.
