What's been the most difficult part of this?

James Freeland · 5:56:31

My mom's ashes are still on in the house. Because I can't bury them, because I know who murdered my mother, and I can't do fuck nothing about it. That's not my character. You don't even understand, man. My mom was the only thing I had in my life, and because of some stupid scandemic, I don't have my mother. I don't have my pillar anymore. Okay, I don't have the one thing in my life, all because a whole hierarchy of shit happened in this world, because some people in this world decided other things were more important, and they decided to put fear in people's lives and put people in harm's way, all because I don't even know.

James Freeland · 5:57:38

Nobody knows, right? And everything's in secrecy. I lost my job because of it. I, I, people, I can't even talk because of it. This is the, this is the most I've ever been able to speak about it, about it, okay? I can't even talk to my friends about it. I can't talk to family about it. I can't talk to anybody about it. And now I'm acting a fool in front of court and Parliament about it. Okay, my mom was the only thing that I had in life. All right, I don't have a dad, I don't have brothers and sisters, I don't have nothing. Okay, this is what I got. And you want to talk about VASP and all this other stuff, just like every other government crap It's crap, all right? It's just a facade. It's propaganda.

Speaker L · 5:58:27

It's bullcrap.

James Freeland · 5:58:28

I called and I tried to get that stuff done. You know what they told me? Well, you don't have evidence. There's no evidence for you. Your mother's dead. No doctors. I, I don't have a doctor to sign anything. That doctor that declared her is not going to sign nothing, you know what I mean? So what am I left with? I'm left with crying every freaking night. I'm left with— I'm left with a son that doesn't have his grandma's nanny anymore, that they had a bond like— I'm sorry, you know what I mean? I just—.

Shawn Buckley · 5:59:03

I'm sorry, I thought I was going to be more— James May, no one apologized here for being a human being. I'm sorry, I tried to— I'm sorry. No, you, you've done a wonderful job, James.

Dean Allison · 5:59:37

I'll just, uh, I'll leave with Thank you for sharing your story. We, we get how painful it is, completely understand. And, you know, we believe that we need to be able to talk about this publicly, right? Yep. We can't make any progress if we're not allowed to talk about it. And so the whole purpose of this is to really give people permission to speak publicly, and then maybe somewhere down the road we can start getting some answers.

Shawn Buckley · 6:00:03

Yes, sir.

Dean Allison · 6:00:05

But, uh, you showed tremendous courage to come in here. And, um, I, I, I, I can't, I can't even imagine your loss, but I do want to thank you for taking the time to share with us.

James Freeland · 6:00:15

Thank you.

Shawn Buckley · 6:00:17

Okay, thanks. Thank you, James. And I, I'm going to go to our next witness now.
